It really is waterproof,
This review is from: Ivation Talk-n-Tunes IPX7 2-in-1 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker and Handset (Black) - Stream Loud Music or Take a Call privately at the Push of a Button - Fully Immiscible in Water (Electronics)
I've reviewed a few Bluetooth receivers that were claimed to be "splashproof" or "water resistant," and they've all passed muster in the shower, but I've never really pushed the envelope with any of them. The Ivation Talk-n-Tunes IPX7 product description says "This Ivation innovation floats! Feel free to connect your favorite Bluetooth device and throw the Talk-n-Tunes into the pool." So I did, not in a pool but in the kitchen sink with six inches of water in it. It not only worked, it's designed to float with the speaker grille facing up. I did submerge it a few times, and it was pretty cool seeing the sound energy blowing the water through the speaker grille in little jets after it floated up to the surface.
But how did the speaker perform, and how good was the audio quality? Bluetooth pairing was quick, with the speaker being recognized by my Kindle Fire HD 7" tablet as device "HIP-HHWS" (no code required). The audio quality was good, with pretty good clarity, decent bass tones, and as much volume as you would expect from 2 watts output. From the speaker controls, the volume, pause, forward to next track, restart current track, and return to previous track can be controlled. I seldom use my cellphone, and I can't imagine taking a call while in the shower, so I did not test the speaker for hands-free phone operation. To test the operating range of the speaker, I walked about the house for a while. Only when I was about 25 feet away with two walls between the speaker and the source did I begin getting some breakups.
The speaker's built-in battery is recharged with a USB cable (Type A plug on one end, mini-USB plug on the other end). I used an AC wall charger with a DC 5V~1.5A output, and it worked fine. Note: After recharging, remember to reinsert the waterproofing rubber plug in the charging port.
This is an impressive waterproof speaker. It truly is waterproof, at least if you don't submerge it too deep, and the audio quality is pretty good. It's definitely work considering if you're looking for a waterproof Bluetooth speaker or a speaker that needs to work in a damp environment.
