A Massive Disappointment.,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Football Manager 2013 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)Having fervently bought the previous five or six incarnations/evolutions of this game, I have to say I'm massively disappointed with this year's effort. Leaving aside the farcical pre-release/release, ignoring for now the enormous shortcomings of the pre-release beta version, I shall concentrate only on the final release. The glitches are still present - creating notes can be done only after the game breaks down and then restarts; actual matches inexplicably freeze before crashing, and there's an incident rate of about 80% in relation to goals scored in the 44th and 89th minute, far too regularly to e considered realistic. The very worst FM was 2011, this one runs it a close second. The 2011 version (as I recall) had players constantly headbutting one another which was absurd, just as late goals strewn throughout this game are equally hard to elieve.
I've given this a score of two since FM has good, solid foundations and I'm sure the improvements will nevertheless continue. The odd few glitches are understandable, although it's always a nuisance having to wait another eleven months to see what they've come up with. As it stands it is less realistic than it would like or may claim to be. The concept remains sound, the graphics and player/ball movement remain pretty true. Finally, the ridiculous notion that a lowly-rated team would always overcome a giant is utterly bonkers. Occasionally it might occur, of course, but not routinely as FM would have you believe. For this season though I've already lost interest.
