Misleading advertisement of encryption, no hardware encryption and surviving capability are just rubber.,
This review is from: LaCie RuggedKey 9000146 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Accessory)
The usb stick by itself does not have anything special apart being 3.0 USB.
It does not have hardware encryption.
It only has rewritten opensource code of TrueCrypt, which is a leading encryption program, free for everybody to use. They just took it and did a graphic interface on a YEARS OLD VERSION. Therefor if you want to use the latest or any recent version of TrueCrypt you will not be able as it interferes with their software. And if you gonna use their software it's a bad decision, because in latest TrueCrypt versions many bugs which can cost you the damage of your files are fixed, and in their version are not.
Basically do your own research and you will see the differences, they use 3.x version of TrueCrypt, latest is 7-8.
So there is no encryption really, just a copy pasted old version of freeware encryption available for download to everybody, which is not healthy to use due to it's early version.
NO HARDWARE ENCRYPTION, don't be fooled people, this stick comes without hardware encryption, making it no safer than any regular stick which you can encrypt yourself by downloading the truecrypt software. There is no point to own a usb stick for security reasons if it will not have hardware encryption.
STICK HAS NO SURVIVAL SKILLS as advertised. Only the rubber does. But the rubber is just a piece of rubber with a hole in it.
So take the orange rubber away and all you have is a regular USB stick, only that it is 3.0 and is faster than 2.0. But this you can get for much less money.
Overall - it is misleading on every corner, it is nothing but a usb 3.0 stick, do not be fooled into buying if you're expecting something else.
