This review is from: Getting the Buggers to Behave 2 (Paperback)
I'm sure there's good sound advice in here, but I just can't wade through it. "Getting the Buggers to Behave" starts well and then just seems to repeat itself over and over again. Some of the suggestions are mad (for example talking to yourself in the pupil's hearing "How will I get them to behave?"), and the general impression is rather confusing and negative.

I was glancing over my old reviews and found this one. On reflection with a further 7 years of teaching under my belt I think I want to say this more strongly! Cowley is/was a primary teacher and it shows. These ideas might work brilliantly with the under 11's but don't try it in Senior School. Instead try Phil Beadle's excellent How to Teach which deals with behaviour through firmness and good teaching.
