Utterly amazing products - utterly amazing company,
This review is from: Bose ® QuietComfort ® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones - Black/Silver (Electronics)
This isn't actually a review about the QC-15 as I have a pair of the QC-2 - but bear with me because what I have to say is about my long term experiences having owned 2 QC-2s for over 6 years (one for me and one for my wife). 95% of people putting reviews on here will be able to tell you how good their headphones are after a month or maybe 6 months or even a year but how many can tell you just how long these things last? Just how good the build quality really is?
So... I don't normally write reviews on products but I felt compelled to let people know just how different and amazing Bose are. I bought their quiet comfort 2 headphones about 6 years ago - needless to say they were/are utterly amazing. I've literally heard new instruments on songs that I'd never heard before - and yes they really do make things quieter when travelling.
However, when you pay that much money for a pair of headphones they really should be good... that much is a given.
No... the reason I'm writing this review is because after 6 years of almost constant use they are STILL working absolutely fine - the only thing that's gone wrong are the ear cushions which have finally given up the ghost and fallen apart having been an almost permanent feature of my head for 6-8 hours of every day, day in day out... I've had things that break after just 6 months of use! In fact, 90% of the electronics I've ever bought in the last 10 years have died after about a year or two - be it from Sony or Panasonic. Nothing lasts these days.
My beautiful and trusty headphones are THE only electronic item that have managed to keep on going. When I asked the customer care person how long their headphones are expected to last as I was contemplating just buying new ones instead of replacing the cushions, he said 10 plus years is quite normal, and then... this is the bit that really shocked me. If I DO get a problem with the headphones, even though I am way outside the warranty period, I can hand them back and upgrade to the new QC-15 for just £109.00... I was utterly gob-smacked. That's about 1/3 of their retail price. This would be like going back to BMW having driven their car for 6 years and saying hey can I trade in my old and now broken 1 series and buy your new model for just £10,000?
YES you pay a premium. But what do you get? Something which ACTUALLY works - something that was BUILT TO LAST - and should it fail, incredible customer care.
This is how things should be. I WILL BUY EVERYTHING FROM BOSE FROM NOW ON... simple as.
