I have read and enjoyed all 24 of Rebecca Shaw's previous books but I really struggled with this one. The plot, such as it is, gets increasingly silly as the book drags on, and on, and on. Dull, boring, weak characterisation and stoyline. The writing style is very juvenile in places and is just not on a par with Rebecca's usual style. The only character I liked or cared about was Barney the dog. I will be sticking with the Turnham Malpas seris in future and have pre ordered the 18th book in the series.
