interesting but not fascinating !,
This review is from: Jean Muir: Beyond Fashion (Hardcover)I was expecting that the designs in the book would be a bit more informative. They are really only artist sketchings - bit hard to gleen anything useful from them.
There are some interesting facts in the book such as Jean Muir got her fabric made specially by French manufacturers, and even the names of the companies are given, but this got repeated a bit.
It is an interesting book to have, I read it fairly quickly, and I'm sure I'll dip back into it again. I'm not sure that the styles are that timeless, although the fluidity of the designs is interesting - a bit like Eileen Fisher clothes.
I wanted to find out a bit more about how she achieved her cutting and styling - what did she do that made it so special. I didn't learn that from this book, all I learnt was that she was highly regarding for being able to cut and style well.
