The Key to Rebecca is an excellent adaptation to Ken Follet's superb novel. Set in 1942 Cairo David Soul plays the German spy Alex Wolf who's mission is to assist General Rommel's advance on Egypt from the west, by obtaining through any means possible, accurate intelligence of British battle plans and send them on via radio transmission using a secret code from Du Maurier's novel "Rebecca" (hence the title!).
This is one of the most underrated films ever, David soul steals the show with believable consummate acting, closely followed by Cliff Robertson, as the dogged British (Canadian) intelligence officer. The only actor that was miscast, to my mind, was Robert Culp as General Rommel.
All in all an excellent exciting plot, fast moving and compelling. Highly Recommended.
