This review is from: The Pariah (A Star book) (Paperback)
Adequate time-passer. The hero is a fairly likeable guy though I found his eagerness to jump into bed with other women, with his wife barely cold in her grave, a little unlikely. The pace is quite slow and I think the book would have benefitted from being shorter. A lot of time is devoted to conversations about diving for ship-wrecks which seem to belong to a more Clive Cussler style adventure. What is very effective is the old tale told about how the evil ends up in the town in the first place and how the villagers dealt with it. I think this would've made a more interesting book than the one we end up with.
