This review is from: Old English Tarot (Cards)
I love this deck. It's one of my favourites.
It has a medieval image that is well achieved without being aggressive or bloody. There are no violent scenes. It could even be used by children, although it's not a children's tarot (not whimsical that way).
It looks like it was created centuries ago. I consider it a quite soothing and contemplative deck. It is fit for every one.
The cards are an ideal size (12 cm high and 7 cm wide), but i don't like them being plasticised (at least they seem that way to touch). US games systems could have avoided that, because it takes away a little bit of that authenticity the author was trying to convey. The cards are very glossy.
The minor cards, also called pips, are all illustrated, although the drawing does not occupy the entire card because the suit is represented ad it has the name of the card on the bottom. For instance, the seven of pentacles has a drawing of medieval england that represents it and above it there are seven coins plus the intricate border belonging to that suit (coins).
The images may not be big (the entire card), but i find them intuitive enough. This is not a dark or heavy deck burdened with detail. There is enough detail, without begging excessive and losing the perspective of the scene under scrutiny.
