Final sacrifice...but this is not the end!,

This review is from: Final Sacrifice (Doctor Who (IDW Numbered)) (Paperback)
IDW's Doctor Who: Final Sacrifice is the third in a trilogy of books and brings together all the threads woven throughout the previous two graphic novels. The third volume includes the final four issues of the sixteen issue story and is backed up with the Annual edition of the mag and features panels of past Doctors and companions and a beautiful page of Tennant's enemies, not to mention the introduction of Matt Smith, beautifully captured in a cartoon sort of way.
The main story, Final Sacrifice, takes us back to the days of former companions Adric and Turlough and ties in with the fate of Matthew, a current member of the TARDIS crew, who is travelling with the Advocate. Why? You'll have to buy the graphic novels to find out why...but the sad fate of Matthew is deservedly shared by the Advocate!
Overall, the stories are good but I think the artwork may be an acquired taste. For me, it works. It captures the varying moods of the Doctor personna and the colouring is especially well done. There are also pin-up pages at the back of the book.
Any fan of David Tennant's Doctor will enjoy this set of three graphic novels but even a reader who appreciates good writing and unusual artwork will probably want to add these books to their collection.
