Plastic Eaters: Live At The Uptown,
This review is from: Plastic Eaters: Live- At The Uptown (Audio CD)
Released on their own label in 2000, this CD is quite a rarity in the UK. The band is comprised of Stan Stammers (Theatre of Hate, Spear of Destiny, Crazy Pink Revolvers) and Rob Daly. At the time, their sound was pretty different, essentially fusing punk and garage with programmed loops, samples and sequences. Unfortunately, P.E weren't in a position to really promote themselves outside of the American east coast area, so the wider world remains largely ignorant of their efforts. Yes, P.E still exist - in fits and starts as more of a project than an ongoing full-time band.
Standout tracks here are Going on a mission, Falling and Stars in my sky, any of which could - and should - have been chart-bothering singles. Although the album states that this was recorded live, it was actually a studio production with a virtual audience dubbed in to give it that concert feel.
P.E are a band that will probably forever be saddled with 'cult' status, and no more.
