Bold. Hilarious. Depraved,
This review is from: The Mop (Kindle Edition)
The Mop should come with a parental advisory sticker on the front. It is utter filth. It is also completely hilarious filth. So if you are too squeamish to read about exploits involving casual depravity, sex toys and accidents involving body fluids then you may wish to try the sample first. For after reading 'The Mop', even a seemingly plain word such as 'slab' will be robbed of its innocence, and will never sound the same again. Discovering an unexpected mop in a cupboard could become borderline traumatic.
This is the uproarious true tale of a young man's misadventures through the seedy underbelly of Sydney, Australia. Author Alan Simpson takes you on a truly unforgettable journey (his own) through this dark, moist world of pervs and pimps. And boy has he got some writing talent to back it up. His 'roving eye' style of writing adds real immediacy to the story; the colourful cast of junkies and misfits is pure Bukowski.
Under the surface of this mile-a-minute, laugh-out-loud romp, is a deeper and far more poignant story of a young man coming of age - it's the tale of a man getting his sh*t together, when all those around him are losing theirs. Literally.
