5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent lab quality printing together with everyday use, 24 Jan. 2012
By
This review is from: HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in-one Printer (Accessory)
I don't normally write reviews but for a while we have been looking through the minefield of printers until we finally took the plunge with this one. Based on previous reviews we were a little concerned about how long it might take to set up, but within an hour we had it installed and wirelessly connected to all 3 computers in the house plus my iphone.

The printing quality is up to lab standard (especially if you use high quality photo paper) and having the seperate coloured ink cartridges is very helpful. You can also use XL size cartridges which is great if you tend to overuse one colour compared to another. Overall the cartridges are competitively priced which helps with offsetting the initial cost of the printer.

In summary, I have to say I love this printer!

Hi,
Can you let me know what the scan facility is like. I've tried to find info on what size files a page of A4 text such as a utility bill of bank statement would be when scanned as a pdf but there is no published information and shops will not let me try the printer out with my laptop.
If you can help it would be most appreciated.
Matt

I've just scanned an A4 page of text and the file size as a pdf was just under 400kb. I'm not sure what the resolution was set at but the image was very clear to read. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your speedy reply! That is the kind of size I can live with the Kodak I have at the minute refuses to do anything less that 1MB with very little functionality to change it. Are you on a PC or a Mac? Also colour or B&W scan?

Hi

Thanks for the review, could you tell me did you get any inks with this printer when you first bought it?

You get a set of set-up cartridges which include the three colours, black and photo-black. Make sure you have all 5 cartridges in the box BEFORE you set it up otherwise it will not work. The set-up cartridges are specially recognised and a normal cartridge cannot replace the initial set-up cartridges. Ink life on the set-up cartridges was pretty good.

Hi all,
On the subject of inks; has anyone tried this printer using any of the 'compatible' inks available, in place of genuine HP inks. If so, what were the results. Positive, or negative?
I have been using 2 Epson printers but have now had enough. This is mainly because of the horrendous price of Epson cartridges (the printers refuse any other than genuine Epson cartridges), and their tendency to run out quickly ( I live in a warm climate). The Epsons are also generally unreliable.
If the HP 7510e is happy to use 'compatible' cartridges, as well as it's other advantages; it sounds as far as I am concerned like a 'must buy'.
Any help on this or any other subjects worth mention would be gratefully appreciated
John F.

Hi I have an Epson and you can get compatible cartridges from Tesco and Cartridge World (not sure where you live so don't know if you will have either) which are about half the price of Epsons own brand.

You can use Jettec inks available from www.inkfactory.com. Very good quality and usually delivered free the next day. If for any reason you have a problem, their customer support is excellent.
