This review is from: Exploring Wines and Spirits (Paperback)
The simple fact is the Christopher Fielden is the worst wine writer I have ever read.
Structurally his work is sloppy, that is, the book lacks logic and leaps from topic to topic in a very confusing way.
The writing is ambiguous: one is regularly left wondering just what the author is trying to express.
In many cases it is clear that Chris does not properly understand what he is 'explaining' (see the autovinification section or his description of stills).
I could go on but am too exhausted from reading his work.
I would like to think that WSET could compile a lucid and clear text. Sadly this is not the case.
This is pretty frustrating given that the courses are bloody expensive.
On the upside I did like the blunt nature of the text--there is no fluff.
This aspect of Chris' work has forced me to rate the book 1 star as opposed to the 0 stars I would otherwise have given.
Sort it out guys!
