5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful rendition, 9 April 2008

This review is from: Mahler: Symphony No.4 (Audio CD)
I have lived with this recording since the days of vinyl. Along with my (very different) George Szell 1960s recording, it is indispensable.

The BPO put us in a warm, shimmering affectionate sound-world and Edith Mathis is sublime in the finale.

Karajan came late to Mahler believing that one had to be ready for this composer - it was worth the wait!
