Can't use it on a netbook,
This review is from: Manga Studio Debut 4.0 (Mac/PC CD) (CD-ROM)
I've never been able to use it. :( I bought this software to play with on train journeys - but my netbook hasn't got a CD drive and it absolutely will not run without the CD. So I uninstalled it and it's sitting on the shelf unused.
Customer support were fairly responsive about it - they replied quickly to my queries, and they _say_ that it says plainly (somewhere) that the CD is required to run it. I didn't notice that, so to me, it's been a waste of money and time trying to get it to work. It's a pity because it looks useful and interesting.

There's an easy solution to this. Sell you're cd version on the market place here or ebay and then buy the download version from the mysmith micro website. You won't need the cd then. worth doing as its an excellent piece of software.

Am I wrong... or are you saying that you bought the CD VERSION of Manga Studio and now can't use it because no one told you that a CD requires a CD drive? I think I must have lost you somewhere. Either way, Mr Bower is right... there's a downloadable version available if you search online which I would recommend because its very much worth it.

I think the problem is for some of the parts on the CD version, you need to have the CD in all the time. I have had a couple of programmes like that in the past; they can be a pain. The downloaded version should avoid these problems.

I totally understand your problem - have you tried a CD emulator like Alchol 52% - you would have to RIP the CD-ROM image on a desktop pc (or the like), then copy it the ripped image to your laptop. My son has a Samsung NC10 and does this with his games. Some work, some don't. I'd be really interested to know if this CD works with A/52% cos them I'll buy it for him. Otherwise not - and they lost a sale.

of course it needs a CD to run. How else would you install the program? Your review is completely misleading. It has nothing to do with the actual product itself.

You have COMPLETELY misunderstood the point - even once the s/w is installed it still needs the CD in the drive in order to run. Like most PC games do - or xbox games, even once they are "installed" on the hard disk.
