This review is from: The Waking That Kills (Paperback)
After the slight blip that was his last novel - The Perils and Dangers of this Night - Stephen Gregory has once again hit top form with The Waking that Kills.
No other writer, for my money, can evoke the English countryside and its seasons the way Gregory does.
The Waking that Kills is not a horror story in the conventional fashion; none of Gregory's books are, but this is precisely why I love his work so much. Horrific, yes, it's but horror based in the real world; tales of obsession and madness that are told more beautifully that any other writer.
Conjuring up similar emotions, imagery and horror of his second novel, The Woodwitch, I say do not hesitate in buying this if you're a fan of subdued horror.
