Enjoy it - just don't expect it to change your life.,
This review is from: High Fidelity (Paperback)
As a music loving late 30s male this book should have been for me, however I found the whole experience a little disapointing.
At points it is very funny, but at others irritating. It is OK as long as you don't read too much into it. High Fidelity falls heavily into the 'aren't men a bit pathetic and sad' school of thought. There is lots of acurate observation and at times it is very funny, but the main character is too pathetic to be sympathetic, too stereotypical of a particular type of male to be credible. While it is difficult to believe anyone can take that long to achieve any sort of emotional maturity.

I'm curious - are you the same person who submitted this review in Nov 2000? If so, why did you re-submit? Or have you copied his review?

Thanks - not even sure now why I asked! I've bought the dvd of the film version, bits of which I saw on tv years ago and quite enjoyed. Thanks for your review of the book.
