This review is from: Gallant Waif (Mills & Boon Historical) (Hardcover)
Anne Gracie has created wonderfully engaging characters in Gallant Waif. Orphaned and destitute, Kate Farleigh's noble spirit and unflagging strength serve her well in the face of her scandalous past. When she is carried off by the wealthy and imperious Lady Cahill and deposited in the neglected hideaway of Lady C's bitter, war-scarred grandson Jack, Kate hopes she has also found a place to hide. Jack is by turns outraged, annoyed and amused by Kate's feisty, no-nonsense approach to life. There are no dull moments in the story of plucky young Kate and sexy, broodingly handsome Jack. Just when they seem to be reaching a tenuous peace, secrets and deceptions threaten to destroy any chance they might have for a future together. Ms. Gracie's attention to historical detail shines through to provide an excellent backdrop for this well-written tale of 1800's love and (mis)adventure.
