Samsung ST66 Camera,
This review is from: Samsung ST66 Compact Digital Camera - Black (16.1MP, 5x Optical Zoom) 2.7 inch LCD (Electronics)Bought this camera to replace a 8MP Kodak and take better shots of our soon to be delivered twins. After reading many reviews on here and other sites it seemed this would fit our needs to just point and shoot but after only having the camera a couple of days I have been disappointed with the overall performance.
Firstly the shutter speed from pressing to taking is slower than desired, and certainly slower than the last camera. The picture quality is decent when taken but this is where the next problem for us lay. The ability to make changes to the 'effects' is lacking in that you can't just select black and white or sepia functions on the camera. Might be a little thing to others but my wife likes this aspect a lot on cameras.
Overall, as someone who just wants a quick load up and take camera, with the ability to quickly change the settings to take different photos with different effects, this camera fails to meet or needs.
Now bought the Lumix FS18 (review will be done when used a bit more) - it already seems a much better purchase.

Many thanks for this review. I have a Samsung camera which is a bit dodgy on the moment, but I am a complete novice and like the features on this one (S860). One of my favourite things on it is the fact that black & white and sepia are functions, and, like your wife, I find this a great function. I was going to buy the ST66 until I saw your review. Many thanks.

You absolutely can select black and white and sepia etc.
Better however to do that afterwards in software.
