using ones position to falsify history,
This review is from: The Hindus: An Alternative History (Paperback)
There must be a very good reason for this book being withdrawn from circulation in India by Penguin. If India does not accept this book it says a lot of the credibility of the content of the book.
Not sure why such a so called "learned" author should have so many facts wrong (see other negative review by Nilesh). I can only assume that this is a deliberate attempt by the author to spread falsehood on India and its history and culture. I therefore now have doubts about other books by this so called learned author specially when writing on any subjects about India.
Beware that many Christians under the guise of hindu academics spread anti Hindu ideas - this one being a prime example.
I would not recommend anyone to buy books by this author

Banned, are you sure, why don't you state the facts which you think are wrong, and even if they are wrong why should a book be banned? You live in a democracy not a fascist state and Penguin India should be ashamed. I'm going to buy 10 copies and distribute them. It's sad when ppl are asking books to be banned.

There is no good reason for this book being withdrawn by Penguin India. There's a very bad reason - the bigoted attacks of Hindu orthodox fundamentalists. If a religion is worth anything it should be robust enough to stand up to criticism and even attack. Hitler and his Nazis banned books...
