This review is from: Sweet Talk: The Secret History of Confectionery (Paperback)This book doesn't take itself seriously and yet delivers hundreds of amusing and truely interesting anecdotes. The depth of research could easily have turned this book into a collection of dates and lists and yet the trainspotter element is minimised and the soft focus nostalgia is maximised.
I have been thoroughly entertaind and informed by this book and have a fresh store of conversational nuggets to be used whenever sweeties are the topic (geddit?)
Don't be put off by the seemingly odd subject matter, I was mocked for buying this book but languish in self satisfaction for my choice was the right one.
