THE EARLY ROOTS OF O BROTHER,
This review is from: King Years 1961 (Audio CD)
The Cohen Bros. great film " O Brother Where Art Thou", gave millions the opportunity to hear REAL American music, and one of the real stars to be discovered was Ralph Stanley. But he didn't just record for that movie. All Bluegrass fans have held him and his late brother Carter highly, as pioneers of the Mountain sound, and this Bargain priced collection shows why we hold them so highly. This is vol.2.After buying this [which I urge you to do] you will look for vol.1 Bargain isn't really the word to use.even Bear Family couldn't surpass this [and would charge twice the price]24 PAGE BOOKLET, AND DISCOGRAPHY COMES WITH THIS.Don't hesitate, buy it now .excellent value.
Among the many highlights are the Original "O Death", many great gospel tracks ,and at long last the complete UNDUBBED Folk Concert Album, as the phony applause on original issue was annoying, to say the least .Worth the price for this alone, but whole collection a Jewel in King's Collection..I can't praise it enough.
