Exams by examiners,

This review is from: A2 English Language for AQA/B (AS & A2 English Language for AQA B) (Paperback)
Written by the examiners and paper-setters, this is an ideal companion through the years leading to those two days in the examination room. Knowing passing an examination is as much about knowing what the examiners require, e.g. like moving the head in an exaggerated way to see the rear-view in the driving examination, as well as being intelligent and knowledgeable, it is written to drive home the aspects being searched for in an answer by examiners using a marking scheme to avoid a relatively subjective subject becoming too subjective. Marking English essays and answers is challenging as answers come in all shapes and sizes. Nevertheless, remember that, like a diet regime, the examiners point out that some shapes and sizes are more beneficial to their owners.
There are also inevitable elements of the "chores" in passing these and practice papers, questions and answers are all there but essential.
Recommended but remember examiners are also looking for flair and individuality, but flair and individuality of a particular sort. Like the driving test, once passed, it's possible to drive in any fashion; as mine said as I drove across the pavement corner shortly after being given the ticked test certificate: "It's all right; your certificated and licensed to do that now but you had to pass first!"
PS I was involved in Education for thirty years and know English education intimately. One may be born with Cs but (generally) one has to work for the As.
