5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, Driver has come back!!!, 12 Mar. 2006

This review is from: Driver: Parallel Lines (PS2) (Video Game)
Driver has come back to its own game. We can now welcome Driver games back with Open Hands. Sure Driv3r wasn't that bad, but still not that good either. Parallel lines will bring Drivers Reputation right back up.

Firstly, The graphics. One word:Superb. Better than GTA:SA. The cars damage is great and very realistic. Bits of you car come flying off, wheels snap off thier axles etc. The sound of the car crashing is quite good as well. The graphics in the cut-scenes are.....WOW! Neraly as good as Metal Gear Solid graphics. The graphics on foot are also good and smooth.

Second, The gamplay. Also a good factor to this game. Unlike driv3r, this game now is mainly mission based in the car, like driver 2. Now this is what a Driving Mission based game is all about. Sure, you still have guns, and get out of the car, but not to the extent of GTA:SA, making it not a clone of the GTA games. The cars handling! That is great. It reminds me of Gran Turismo car handling. Diffrent cars have diffrent speeds, handling etc. Another neat feature is that you can mod your cars up, making them look good, and helping you on later missions.

Thirdly, The music. Beacuse this game goes from 1978 to 2006, the music has to change as well. In 1978 you have all the classics such as The Temptentions and Blondie, while in 2006 you have Mylo and Kaiser Chiefs. Personally I like the 1978 music better, but hey, Thats just me.

Other Factors. Things change when you come from 1978 to 2006 which is pretty neat. Also, the character voices are good and fit the mouth movement good.

Opinion. This game is a great game. It has evry aspect of what the Driver Games should have. It takes you back to the time of when Driver was the only game of its kind. People who say that this game is just like GTA, well they are wrong in many ways, and This game is nothing like GTA. Completely different! If you liked Driver 2, then you will also like this. If you liked Driv3r, then you will love this. If you don't like driver, then you are missing out on something Great!
