Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Maximfoto - MACRO EXTENSION TUBES / SET AF & AI Compatible with NIKON DSLR 40X D40 D50 D60 D3000 D3100 D5000 D5100 D7000 D70 D70s D80 D90 D100 D200 D300 D300S D700 F6 F5 F75 F100, 50mm 35mm 28mm etc By Maximfoto Supplies (Electronics)
I brought this knowing there would be some limitation to this tube.
But the lack of information on the page meant that the item I received is completely useless.

Got this information with the item ordered, but why was this information not on this page?

INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE READ BEFORE USE OF THE EXTENSION TUBES.

Manual Focus Only. No Metering. (Ones with contacts are available for AUTO FOCUSING PLEASE ENQUIRE)
There are no electrical contacts in the extension tubes.
Exposure must be adjusted manually.
Camera must be set to 'operate shutter without lens attached' or the camera will assume there is no lens attached and will not operate. (Unless a manual camera of course)

Lens used when applying the extension tubes must have an external manual aperture ring or the iris will close and very little light will enter the lens.
As an example the Nikon 18-55mm kit lens lens has an internal aperture that must be controlled via the camera and in this case the iris will fully close when mounted on the extension tubes which them allows very little light through the lens.

Lens used must also have an external focus ring or you will not be able to focus. Some lenses are fully automatic and have internal focus and again these are not suitable for use with extension tubes.
A good lens to use on the extension tubes for Nikon would be the 50mm f1.8D or 50mm f1.4 These are the old style lenses with aperture and focus ring are externally and can be used manually.

Important Note.
When removing the adapter from the lens, please be sure to pull the lug back before twisting the lens... This is a lever attached to a small pin that pulls away from the lens (internally) to allow for it to twist off. Not doing this may jam the lens onto the adapter. Please inspect the equipment before use and this will be seen.

If you have bought in error please return for a refund.
Similar reference is also made to other camera types too, i.e Sony, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, M42 mount, Nex

Cameramarket UK.

Now if there posted this on the page, then I would have known before buying it, that this would not work on my Camera/Lens.

Instructions are not usual on the website advert. we supply instructions to this product and expalin the product in detail on the we page. Unfair feedback as it does not review the item but makes reference to not knowing about the product.!

I agree. Why would you include instructions on a website advert.
However, the advert decription says "AF", yet the instuctions say "Manual Focus Only".
Until Mr. S. Clough quoted the manual, one would have assumed that "AF" stood for Auto Focus, not "Auto Focus until you read the full description and find out that it's Manual Focus only and the "AF" is just to catch your eye".
