Not quite what it says on the tin (Manzoni joke there, for the conceptualists),

Hodge's work is a spirited defence of abstract, conceptual and other forms of art that are regularly under attack from the dullard philistines of our age. Unfortunately, its arguments on a painting-by-painting basis tend to be contextual ("yes, a five-year-old might well have painted it, but that's not the point") and while they will offer sustenance to those who already enjoy Duchamp, Pollock etc, the haters are still going to hate. But, hey, maybe we like it that way.
