This review is from: Trilogy: The Weeping Meadow [DVD] (DVD)Angelopoulos' unforgettble images fill the memory with impressions of his recollections of Greece's troubled first half of the 20th century. I have watched it twice since I bought the DVD in November, 2010.
The second time I gathered more from the stylized presentation and it left me sitting deep in thought at the end. Having read books on the subject and heard friends recollections of their life during that period in Greece, The Weeping Meadow captures the uncertainty and darkness of spirit that existed, at times as if there would never be a release. Hope for a brighter future was only an impossible dream.
The world of Melina Mercouri seemed so far away, where life was presented as positive even if circumstances were not.
I will watch this film again. It haunts me still.
