Excellent choice for sound and simplicity,
This review is from: Denon DHT-T100 Soundbar for TV - Black (discontinued by manufacturer) (Electronics)
I have lived with this product for a couple of weeks now and love it. I bought it to replace a basic Sharp soundbar which had served me well but could deliver overblown bass at times. Here the bottom end is much more controlled and listenable as is the midrange. Another thing I like is the simplicity of connection. By removing the old soundbar and an unused DVD recorder I removed nine (nine!) cables and replaced them with just two here being the optical connection and the power cable. So all that awful spaghetti of cables has gone. The base is designed to have a TV placed on top but I do not like the look of this especially with my Samsung TV that has a crow's feet stand so I always intended it to sit on a shelf in my stand and it looks just fine. I watch all tv channels and blue ray movies on the "movie" setting. On "movie wide" the dialogue becomes a little less distinct so I will stick with "movie" which still supplies plenty of pseudo surround effects and excitement. On my old set up I struggled to follow dialogue on USA programmes such as Modern Family. Now they are as clear as a bell. The "speech" setting should also help the hard of hearing as it noticeably centres and pushes forward dialogue but I prefer the "movie" setting. The remote learning worked like a dream first time so I can forget about using the Denon remote. Bluetooth connection was also simple. I do not intend to use this feature as a have a hi-fi in my room but did have a quick listen to a couple of tunes from my Google Nexus tablet and was quite impressed. Certainly very listenable and much better than a Bose music system I have heard so if using the Denon for music is one of your considerations buy with confidence. Any cons? Well a volume indicator would have been nice although the lights on the device briefly light up as you push volume on your remote so you do get used to it. Also the supplied optical cable is incredibly flimsy bell wire so I bought another one. You may not agree that cables make any difference but I would suggest spending at least a fiver on another cable to get better build quality. In summary a great buy and now it has been reduced by fifty pounds even better.

Hi, I'm interested in buying this soundbase but like you I have a Samsung 48 inch TV with the crows feet stand and it's just too big to fit on top of the Denon. So I was also thinking of placing the Denon on a shelf under the TV, just wondered if the distance from the TV and how enclosed the shelf is will make a difference. I have this TV stand: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/par
Do you think this would be fine?
Thanks for any help.

Hello. The top of my denon is about six inches below the crows feet stand of my TV on the top shelf in my stand. The stand itself is in an alcove surrounded by three walls. As I said in my review the sound from this set up is great and I prefer the look of the denon in a stand anyway. I am sure you will be fine. Good luck!
