I have listened to and collected electronic and progressive music for nearly 30 years and Zombi have been a great find for me. I can think of a lot of their peers who would kill to produce a platter of this quality.
At times, if were being picky, I might ask for a more intricate lead line, but there is always plenty going on on this album. The use of real bass and real drums adds great urgency and zest to the pieces and often, the rhythm "section" (as it were, there are only two people in Zombi) drives the music.
There is superb use of dynamics, with the duo frequently building the suspense for the listener, and always plenty to interest the listener without things getting muddled. The bass is sinuous and punchy and the drumming propels things along with an urgency that machine generated drums can't even get close to.
You'll find excellent production and playing, and clever, varied but fluid tracks. If you're like me, you may also get that rare feeling that as each new tracks unfolds, you just know it's going to be another good one.
What more could you ask?
