This review is from: Panasonic Lumix GF1 12.1MP Digital System Camera 14-45mm Lens Kit - Black (Electronics)
Previously owned a Canon G9. Thought of upgrading to G11, but am pleased I bought this camera, worth extra bulk to have a proper lens system. With the effective intelligent auto feature to fall back on, it is a camera that would suit an amateur venturing into a more complex world. Other reviews seem on the ball, but would point out the following:
Big plus point is that this camera comes with a manual. Not the easiest read, but far superior to on line Canon G9 Manual. Found Canon approach so user unfriendly I actually started to print manual off, until I realised the magnitude of the task.
For me, a further plus is the fact that the flash folds into body. I take photos under circumstances where flash is strictly forbidden and this guards against me inadvertently breaking the rules.
Minus point is lack of viewfinder which under some conditions in bright sunlight is a pain. Electronic viewfinder is an expensive extra. (As noted elsewhere, spare Panasonic battery is also high priced)
Note: Take care in discos and like venues where incidental lighting can be caught by lens. Nice lens hood comes with camera, great for daylight, but if used with flash indoors, at wide angle it creates a shadow.
