My cute corded, comfortable and compact Sony MDR-AS50 gave up the ghost on the left side almost 2 years ago.
I have been running 10K and on ocassion 16K using Endomondo sports app for a few years and I decided to go for the bluetooth headset as it supported by Endomondo and no more hassle with the cord. Ordered after much deliberation because cheap it is not!
Received item August 2013 (enclosed with US micro usb charger...I live in Amsterdam!) promptly after ordering. It looked the bizz.
I had a European micro usb charger to hand, charging and coupling to my iphone 4S was easy even for me.
I wore my iphone in a sport belt just above my right hip, no problem with bluetooth connection to the headset.
That's it for the pros I'm afraid
The buds only stay in temporarily if twisted in a certain angle quite uncomfortable. Just lodging them at the entrance to my ears meant popping them back into place every few steps.
As regards sound quality, I have no idea as my listening pleasure is continuously interrupted, this due to the amount of time spent fiddling the things back into place.
The sound cuts out if the cord behind the neck is not laying smoothly or if I need to look over my schoulders
The headset behind the ears have a thin cushioning and would be comfortable enough if:
- I do not wear sun-glasses. Which I do need to if it's very bright or to combat the little flys who live just to launch themselves in my
eyes. There is not enough space behind my ears for both sunglasses and headset
- I do not wear a cap, again against the sun or in a downpour. As the cap presses on my ears which are pressed against the
headset which in turn presses against my skull quite uncomfrortable, no painfull! Had none of this drama with good old Sony.
I have actually measured my ears with calipers (with the aid of my kids) as a comparison to the product which I also measured. If your measurements are similar to mine I would strongly advise against buying this item.
Space between my skull and earlobe 1cm compared to width of headset 1,2cm
Entrance to my ear canal 0,9cm compared to diameter of smallest bud 1,6cm
