Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Complete Guide to Designing and Printing Fabric (Paperback)This book will impress if you are completely new to the concept of printing and dyeing fabric. However,I suspect that it will also frustrate, as the instructions/content are quite "high level". This is one of several books I've purchased recently on the back of American blogger reviews and I have to say I've been a tad disappointed. There appears to be a bit of a glut of new books from this "community" which have been marketed well but from my perspective fail to deliver. Lots of nice picture fillers, but big type and lots of white space, so on first impressions it looks like a meaty tome but when you actually start to read it, it's pretty lighweight.
On the plus side it does cover a lot of subject matter (from printing to selling your stuff), the images show fresh modern prints for inspiration, and there are some interesting interviews with crafters and artists who have successfully transferred their talents to a commercial enterprise.
I'm a bit borderline as to whether I would have added this to my library if I'd had the chance to really delve into it first - chances are I would as it has got the seed of being an excellent book if only it had raised the bar on areas other than how to use Adobe illustrator/photoshop (which as I don't own I've skipped - it does take up a significant chunk of the book).

I have read this with interest. What would you suggest as a better alternative? I am about to buy one and I would rather buy the best that my pennies can afford.
