This review is from: Swordfish: A Biography of the Ocean Gladiator (Hardcover)
I have most of the books by Richard Ellis. He writes about subjects that interest me, and is very good at summarising a lot of information, including scientific research papers, and presenting the information in a very readable form. Having said that, I don't think this book is as good as some of his earlier ones. Firstly, Richard Ellis is a renowned painter of aquatic wildlife, and his earlier books contained full page colour prints. The paintings in this book have been reproduced in black and white. In addition, they are smaller than full page size, and not glossy. The other problem is that there are a number of typographical errors, and one or two of the longer sentences do not make sense. There has not been enough attention to detail in the preparation of this book, and that, combined with the lack of colour prints, gives it a cheap feel.
