Wondeful Hardrock with Metal attitude & pop class,
This review is from: Songs For The Deaf (Audio CD)The 3rd album has aways been something of a terror for your average rock group, average statistics show that the 1st & 2nd albums are almost always considered classic, while the 3rd is roundly criticised. But then again QOTSA are not your average band.
With Dave Grohl behind the drum-kit, the Queens start of the LP with the rocking "Millionaire" & don't let up one bit all the way through to "Mosquito Song". Fans of the Queens previous work will be happy to see that the Queens trade-mark poppy catchiness is intact, without sacrificing the heaviness required to establish this on the hardrock circuit. This masterful combination of catchy lyrics with blisteringly heavy riffs is best displayed on the album's single release "No One Knows" & the brawling anthem "Six Shooter".
On final thoughts, this album is a more than satisfactory follow-up to "R" & that when given time, this will rank up alongside "Appetite For Destruction" or "IV" as a classic heavy rock album.
