This review is from: My War Gone by, I Miss it So (Paperback)
There have been many books which have exposed the grim realities of the battle field, this is book is not unique in that respect. However, the personal aspect which Loyd brings into the account goes a long way to breaking through the glass wall between the reader and the 'action'. Rather than being a detached 'fly on the wall' allowing the reader to distance himself and feel detached from distant and alien events, Lloyd's nexus between the war, cocaine and his 'heart of darkness' makes the horror and the fear easier to relate to for the Western reader. Definetely one for the collection.
