Very timely. Fascinating, useful, illuminating, quotable.,
This review is from: Mainstreaming Sex: The Sexualisation of Western Culture (Paperback)
This is an excellent text that has an academic heart but roams across the disciplines so that those interested in popular culture, or current hot topics such as internet porn, burlesque, pole dancing... will all find something particularly relevant to their interests here. Fascinating, useful, illuminating, quotable. Because this is an edited collection there is space for individual voices so that the reader isn't hit over the head by one particular 'take' on sexualization, which is useful given that there are inevitably usually 'sides' to be taken. Food for thought. I found the chapters by Ros Gill and Brian McNair particularly helpful.
