3.0 out of 5 stars IPhone 5 Docking Station, 13 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Belkin Charge and Sync Desktop Dock with Lightning Connector for Apple iPhone SE/5/5c/5s/6/6s/6 Plus/6s Plus/iPod Nano 7th Gen/iPod Touch 5th Gen (MFI Approved) - Aluminum (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Good quality device.
The downside is, it doesn't allow connection to be made if a case is fitted on the I phone and only has a small cutout for the connector.

That's a shame, is there a decent dock that allows for the fact that owners protect their iPhones with a case?

You'll laugh but I bought a dock from Poundland that works with a case. It's not swanky aluminum, but it's £1 and works great.

I 'sort-of' expected this issue when I bought one of these docks but there is a solution if you feel like hacking the thing (mine was s/h so no returns...). The moulding around the male Lightning plug can be cut down and once this is done it stands proud enough that the phone will seat correctly even with a fairly thick case. To access the plug requires peeling off the rubber base, then loosening a few screws and the lead/plug part can be extracted from the base. It isn't difficult and re-assembly is also easy. Having done this the dock works well with my cased iPhone 5S. Chris - that looks perfect. You should be working for Belkin - they could certainly learn a lot!!!

Whoever is the first company that makes a docking solution that actually works with cases will become very very rich. Thanks for posting the pictures.
