TRAGICAL MYSTERY LURE,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Magical Mystery Tour (Box Set) [Blu-ray & DVD] (Blu-ray)
i was exited when i received the official BEATLES/APPLE mailshot on 22nd August announcing the release of MMT finally restored and on DVD/blu ray. I WAS A LOT LESS EXITED ABOUT THE PRE ORDER PRICE OF £59.99 !!! So im very pleased to see that Amazon are offering it a full £30 cheaper at £29.99 !!!! Apple are also offering the DVD at £19.99 (Amazon £8.89.....less than half price) and Blu ray at £24.99 (Amazon £12.59.....nearly half price).
MMT pre order prices only came through on Amazon uk yesterday, so i can only assume Apple held back confirming its price to other UK retailers by THREE WEEKS to try and maximise their own sales at these massively inflated prices. And unlike Amazon, if you had pre-ordered with Apple you would have had to pay in advance.................I guess Apple dont want to be seen to undercut other retailers by selling direct, but their prices are ridiculous and i'm sure many loyal fans wil have pre-ordered with them , not realising how inflated they were, and maybe even thinking its was exclusively direct from Apple.
Anyway, thanks again Amazon..............im looking forward to receiving my box set from YOU.

I pre ordered from amazon as soon as it became available on their site as the e-mail from Beatles.com as you have mentioned is £59.99. With some of my previous Beatle purchases i.e.:both Beatles Box set mono and stereo on pre order I saved £70 as amazon had made a mistake with the price and they put price up before the release date.
If you watch the trailer for this film the quality of the picture is Fab.

Whether that's the reason, or just that Amazon realised they could put the price up anyway, is a moot point: what certain is that if the box set was once available to pre-order at £29 See the first review), it's now priced on Amazon at £44, which is a 50% increase on their original price. Very disappointed to have missed an opportunity...

talked to some independent music retailers meanwhile. they reckon amazon put it out cheap as a loss leader as at the original price they must have made a loss
i see they have not made same mistake on the new remastered vinyl box set which is priced same as Apple.

I see that Amazon dropped it by £150 and Apple by £100 as you have said they are the same price now. I wonder if they will drop anymore. The mono vinyl comes out next year. I wonder how much that will be.
