Think of this book as the DVD extras of your car,
This review is from: You and Your Land Rover Freelander: Buying, Enjoying, Maintaining, Modifying (You & Your) (Hardcover)
I bought this book having already read the 2 other reviews on this book so I knew fully what I was getting. Anyway for £2 something who can grumble. I am a car enthusiast first and foremost and am a sucker for anything out there to do with my car at the time, be it books or bolt on goodies. Therefore this book was a must for the price I got it for. There are many books written about the development and history of a cars life with lots of nice pictures and nobody complains about this. Largely this is what this book is about. The development programme and some tech specs. If this is your kind of thing then buy it. If you want a book that tells what things to put on the car and how to drive it then this is not for you. There are some bits about enjoying yours but not much. For this sort of information you are better off buying one of the many monthly Land Rover mags out there which will tell you some of these things.
This book should not have been part of the Haynes "you and yours" range. It would have been better as a stand alone book on the Freelander as it completely falls down solely based on it's misleading title. No surprise then it did not get to a second addition reprint which might have covered the 2003 onwards facelift models. As it is it misses out a fair bit of info on these models which were only just coming onto the market as the book went to press.
So to sum up as the title says think of it as the DVD extras to your car. It may be viewed once but then put back on the shelf and never viewed again.
