Overrated, saved by Gilmour's guitaring,
This review is from: The Wall [Discovery Edition] (Audio CD)
This has to be one of the most overrated albums of all time. While not terrible, the hype surrounding it is excessive. Whenever Roger Waters gains control over something (much like The Final Cut) it resembles little more than a theatre show. Again, much like The Final Cut, his voice elicits one emotion very well - however ONLY that one emotion. The only thing that pulled me from my daydream and lured me into the music was when David Gilmour continued to save the album with his unique guitar playing. Yet again, Gilmour proves to be a vital vertebrae in the backbone of Pink Floyd. This band should have stuck with the notions behind Meddle and Dark Side.
