How to... competently examine a pertient issue.,
This review is from: How to be Good (Paperback)
Ok, his title was better.
Being a first timer Hornby reader, I had only the ellusive rumours to inhibit my preconceptions, I was pretty much impressed overall by the way Hornby approachs such a topic, espeacilly for the female perspective, genuinely convincing. The characters are over developed - in a good way - and although I know not of anyone actually like them, seemed totally plausible.
Its worth noting the length of time Nick takes to examine the realistic issues of being a morally good person, as if he has deep running concerns, at least more than the average person. Sometimes the reader actually feels better off after tracing the lead character through her family and fantasy (mis)adventures.
All in all a very readable, addictive and carefully writen novel.
