Even worse than Borderlands 1,
This review is from: Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
If you enjoyed the very repetitive, simplistic pleasures of the first game, then you will enjoy this. If you are looking for anything remotely sophisticated and challenging, steer clear.
Borderlands 1 was a good game hampered by a few serious flaws. Unfortunately those flaws are repeated in Borderlands 2 and there is nothing new to compensate.
The same problems I highlighted in my Borderlands 1 review are evident:
Story - There is absolutely no compelling storyline. All the missions are tedious variations on a theme. After a while, the lack of any real purpose makes the game a grind.
Gameplay - The game is repetitive. As with the original, you're still doing the same thing over and over again and the missions are very dull.
Atmosphere - As with the original, there is no atmoshere. The score is dreadful and the use of music erratic and incongruous. The game cries out for a decent soundtrack. It is also empty bat the usual crowd of psychos. The cell shaded graphics are cool, but there is no atmosphere, no sense of place.
Voicing - The woman who appears on screen talks without moving her mouth. Is it meant to be ESP? With the original, it looks like lazy production qualities.
Backpack - the equipment page is still very muddled and clumsy.
Fixed environment - you still can't shoot bottles or radios left on desks or shoot out lights in rooms.
Mind-numbingly dull and repetitive when it should be a scintillating shooter. Avoid.
