Brief but right to the point.
Our ability to study the brain has radically improved over the last two decases or so, not least because of radically improved scanning technology. But there is still a mountain to climb before we can really claim to understand what the brain actually does and exactly how it does it.
In terms of brain research, even 2000 is in the distant past, relatively speaking, and a book like this needs to be reviused/updated every 4-5 years. The trouble is that such frequent revisions do not appeal to publishers, many of whom (in the case of non-fiction books) seem to be increasingly interested in pushing products with little concern for the quality/accuracy of those products.
