A grindcore classic,
This review is from: World Downfall (Audio CD)
Terrorizer were one of the most important bands in the emerging grindcore genre, and their 1989 `World Downfall' album has rightly been recognised as one of the true classics of the style. As one might expect the influence of early Napalm Death is very apparent in this mix of insane speed blastbeats and angular riffing, but wheras those early Napalm albums suffer from diabolical production here Scott Burns slick engineering means every riff is audible without losing the brutality. Admiteddly there is little variation in style from one track to the next, but the material is so strong it really doesn't matter. The members of Terrorizer would go on to gain more fame as members of Napalm Death and Morbid Angel, but `World Downfall' remains one of their greatest triumphs. A must for all fans of grindcore and extreme death metal.
