I love Bulgakov,
This review is from: A Country Doctor's Notebook (Vintage Classics) (Paperback)
I really do but I think it was this book, that I read at a tender of 15 or similar, that had a sentence how women had never achieved anything meaningful in medicine and gyneacology only progressed when men took over. It doesn't mention that first women were admitted to medical departments 10 years prior and before had to do healing based on knowledge passed on and good instincts. I have to say it stung then and I still remember this.
Disclaimer, I am not sure if this was the book, as I cannot find the cover of the book I read 20 years ago. So sorry, if I am barking at a wrong tree so to say.
