Another great book in an amazing series,
This review is from: Blameless: Book 3 of The Parasol Protectorate (Paperback)
Delightfully unique and highly entertaining.
Being sent away by her husband Lord Macoon because he thinks that Alexia was unfaithful is the start of a series of annoying and dangerous events. Not only that being pregnant is weird and inconvenient, once again someone is trying to kill her. Alexia decides that traveling to Italy is the best way to deal with the situation. Together with Foote and Madame Lefoux she goes on a journey to Florence. On her way she meets a crazy professor, evil Templars and discovers her love for pesto.
Will Alexia be able to learn more about her mysterious pregnancy and will her husband finally come to his senses and start adoring her again?
Gail Carriger has the ability to capture my interest completly. As soon as I started with "Blameless" I wanted to go on and on.
Reading about Alexia, Conall and the other characters is always a pure joy. The way Alexia dealt with her pregnancy made me laugh out loud several times, the pragmatic approach with which she handled the situation fits to what I previously learned about her.
I adore the wit and eloquence Gail Carriger uses to tell her stories. Every sentence of this book was a joy to read and I never wanted to rush through a part. Carriger has created a world full of entertaining and delightfully unique characters that fascinate me. I realized that some things I wouldn't like in other books work perfectly in "Blameless", I guess the way this book is written makes everything possible.
I could go on and on with praising this book however I can't do justice to Gail Carriger's work. I think that reading her books is the only way to truly realize how unique, entertaining and fascinating they are.
The cover is beautiful and perfect, so far all of the covers in this series have been fantastic.
"Blameless" is brilliant and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I love Gail Carriger's style of writing, her wit and eloquence make every sentence of this book a pure joy to read. This book is unique, entertaining and delightful - a real treat for all book lovers.
