Oh-Er Mr Darcy!!!,
This review is from: Pride And Promiscuity: The Lost Sex Scenes of Jane Austen (Paperback)
'Pride and Promiscuity'certainly delivers on that which the title promises! Some of the details of these short 'lost scenes'will certainly have you raising an eyebrow whether in disbelief that Jane Austin actually did write them or out of pure shock.
You definately WILL cry, though whether it be tears of laughter at the bodice ripping comedy of it all or at the insinuation alluding to (for example), Eleanor with Edward's 'dappled grey pony' will depend entirely on the readers disposition!!!
The reader would have to at least read the books from which these passages are supposedly taken in order appreciate their context to the larger story however I'm sure they would be entirely entertaining to those seeking the thrill of a quick racy read, especially fans of the naughtier Mills and Boon books (I have been assured).
To sum up, this is an amusing and witty read but should be taken with a pinch of salt. As a lover of all Jane Austin's work myself, I have to admit that while I was not entirely convinced that this was the genuine article I was nevertheless thoroughly amused and scandalised just the same!
