This review is from: The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding: The Bible of Bodybuilding, Fully Updated and Revised (Paperback)
My advice to any beginner in bodybuilding: before even signing up for a gym, buy a book like this and read it all. Too many people waste an awful lot of time in the gym, working hard but seeing very little muscle gains because they're doing it wrong. Don't try inventing your own programme - read what the professionals have to say about the subject, then start bodybuilding. You'll be amazed at how much quicker you see gains after you've taken Arnie's advice.
This book is pretty much what the title suggests: an encyclopedia. It contains pretty much everything you need to know about bodybuilding - its history, the science behind it (the biology of muscular hypertrophy), which exercises to do, how to eat, on motivation, illegal steroids, on competing and so much more. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a scientific inaccuracy in the section on women's bodybuilding: women produce a tenth of the testosterone a man does, not a hundredth.
